Joe is currently travelling around the UK with the touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. The show, a perennial favourite with West End audiences and schools alike, has proved the perfect vehicle for Joe’s first full length season in a musical. Just take a look below at a small selection of reviews from around the country.

joe-mcelderry-as-joseph-102616“Now another reality TV star Joe McElderry …… follows Mead, and he may just be the best sung Joseph there’s ever been, bringing a vocal flair to Joseph that’s utterly ravishing.”  Mark Shenton, The Stage

“X-Factor finalist Joe McElderry plays the title role in this evergreen musical and in the words of his mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, the South Shields lad absolutely smashed it.”  ….
“And Joe breathed even new life into this middle-aged musical which retells the Biblical tale of Joseph, 12th and favourite son of Jacob, sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. His voice was solid and silken and, simply, faultless, rendering Close Every Door possibly the best version I have ever heard.”
Janet Tansley, Liverpool Echo

“For five stars, a show has to go the extra distance, providing a particular kind of pleasure. For Joseph, that was to see a well-loved (or even well-worn) standard that has been doing the rounds for 36 years – albeit periodically renewed – completely reinvigorated by the presence of the best sung Joseph I’ve ever heard, Joe McElderry.” Mark Shenton again! The Stage

“McElderry ….. has bags of charm and charisma and a really fine voice that sings the music itself memorably.” Mel Cooper, Plays To See

” In a role that has also been famously performed by Philip Schofield and Donny Osmond, Joe McElderry admittedly had some big shoes to fill, but he had no trouble in doing so. Backed by an energetic and talented cast, McElderry’s Joseph shone almost as brightly as his fancy coat. His faultless vocal talent was matched only by fellow talent-show contestant Lucy Kay in her role as the Narrator. Both performers were outstanding; the backbone to a timeless family show that had the audience at the New Theatre on its feet by the megamix at the end.”  sophums,  Daily Info

The show is also receiving an impressive 4.5/5 stars from TicketMaster reviewers: TicketMaster Reviews
