I am glad he is still young...what a hard working guy
I will try my best to get there, long travels, but I really really really REALLY want to see this!
I really really think you should!
You can get from London Euston to Blackpool with one change of train. At the moment Virgin also operates a daily direct train with no changes.
Some general info which I hope may be helpful to everyone. Lots of hotels and guest houses to choose from. Trip Advisor as usual is good to check. Be aware that during the Illuminations some accommodations wont let you book just for one night at weekends. Anyone coming by car, since the town is going to be so busy not only with the Illuminations but also The World Fireworks Championships whilst Tommy is on, it's really essential you check what parking is available at your hotel/guest house. Big public car parks too.
Some people prefer to opt for a hotel on one of the streets right behind the Winter Gardens/Opera House complex so they can walk to the show but this is town centre so definitely important to check parking situation before you book hotel. Other people like to stay a short taxi ride away from the theatre at places with plentiful parking.
The Opera House is on the same street as the Grand Theatre but further up going away from the sea. It's opposite St. Johns church square where the stage was set up for Joe to sing before turning on the Christmas lights a few years ago.
